1984-1987, 1988-1990 - заведующий кафедрой афроамериканских исследований Гарвардского университета;

1997-2002 - заведующий кафедрой истории американской цивилизации Гарвардского университета;

2001-2004 - заведующий кафедрой этнических исследований Гарвардского университета.

Преподавание:

Лекции в качестве приглашённого профессора в Университетах Мюнхена, Берлина, Берна, Еврейского университета в Иерусалиме, Римского университата Ла Сапиенца, Университета Ка-Фоскари в Венеции, Нанкинского университета, а также Нью-Йоркского университета (Кампус Абу-Даби).
