VII Zverev International Biennial Conference оn American Studies on Colonial and Postcolonial Discourse in American Literature, Culture and Politics: pro et contra will be held at the Russian State University for the Humanities on May 13–14, 2021.

The conference program includes the Round Table on the 150th Anniversary of Theodore Dreiser's Birth dedicated to the writer's work.

This event includes both online and offline participance.

Deadline for the submission of proposals: 10 March, 2021.

Nikolay Anastasiev (12.11.1940 - 10.01.2021), who died yesterday, January 10, 2021, was a Soviet and Russian literature historian, Doctor habilitat in philology, professor, specialist in XX century American literature.

International Round Table “Truth and Fiction in Stories about the Past” will be held via Zoom on December 4, 2020 at 19:00.

XLVI International conference of the Russian Society for American Culture Studies (RSACS) will be held on Zoom platform of the Journalism Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University on December 2-5, 2020.

The journal Literature of the Americas has been approved for inclusion in the international database Ulrich's Periodicals Directory. Ulrich's Periodicals Directory provides information about more than 300,000 periodicals from 90,000 publishers covering 950 subject areas and 200 languages. Detailed bibliographic records include data such as ISSN and title, publisher, online availability, subject area, language, abstracting and indexing coverage, searchable tables of contents, and full-text reviews.

The Gorky media published a material on police violence against black people in African American literature of the 20th century. Olga Panova, editor-in-chief of Literature of the Americas, Doctor Hab. of Philology, lead research fellow at IWL RAS, compiled a short guide to racial issues in the works of African American writers of the twentieth century.

The Kriga publishing house issued a book by the specialist in Latin American history, literature and folklore, Doctor Hab. in Philology Andrey Kofman:

Revolution on the Way to El Dorado. Chronicle of a Rebellion of Lope de Aguirre Written by Francisсo Vasquez. Saint Petersburg: Kriga, 2020. 240 p.

The book is dedicated to the most famous expedition in search of El Dorado launched from Peru in 1560.
